Why Visit Peru / Cusco ?

Because you are going to know another part of the world, where you are going to live a magical and unforgetable experience and welcome to discover the enchantament of this lovely country.

Located on the central West coast of South America, Peru is divided into three main regions, a narrow desert coastal belt on the west, the wide Andean mountain range in the center and the amazon River basin to the East.

It is a credit to the pre-Columbian cultures that they dominated these coastal valleys, mountain slopes, and jungle foothills much more competenly than their current-days heirs.

Man first arrived in this part of America, before agriculture and animals had been domesticated, 20.000 years ago.

An advanced civilization Chavin, was well known as a Panandean culture, because it was the first culture which gave birth to the following cultures: Wari which is found in the central sierra of Ayacucho, it was dated from 900 to 1200 years AC, during that epoch the big urban center were development which produced crafts and micro sculptures, this development was based on the trade, called “chalay”, by the Andean's people (barter market), despite the geographic limitations, they grew up and prospered.

Finally the Inkas began the conquest from Cusco and so they left us a lot of remains which are still seen throughout Peru.

Cusco was considered the navel center of the Andean's world, because here was born the great culture know as Inkas, so it was the capital of Tawantinsuyo, it was founded during the 11 th century by Manko Q'hapaq, who emerged from the Titi Kaka lake (according to mitic legend).

Cusco was the political center of the four regions which made up the Inka Empire. At its peak, the Empire expanded to cover the actual areas of Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile.

The Inka society was a fantastic example of social and political organization. During March 1534, the spanish army lead by Francisco Pizarro built a spanish city on the same Inka structures, in other words, the colonial buildings were contructed over original Inka stone foundations, and the Inka buildings were destroyed by the conquerers in order to build new houses and catholic churches. Therefore Cusco is a typical example of a culture fusion, and also Cusco has inherited a great amount of invaluable art works and architectural monuments.

The spaniards arrival in 1532, was a severe blow to the Andean world and a disruption of the sustained development for people.

After nearly fifty years of war then the spaniards emptied the Inka treasures into furnaces to be melted and sent them to the royal crown of Spain. Most of the amazing buildings were abandoned by the Andean people after the conquest.

In 1780 Tupac Amaru II, who`s lineage was traced back to the Inkas, lead a rebellion against the spanish crown to defend against exploitation. Thousand of indians rose up in arms to join together with Tupac Amaru and his fellow conspirators. Tupac Amaru II now is regarded as one og the leaders of the continental independece.

The war of the Pacific (1879-84), between Peru, Bolivia and Chile ended with the annexation of Arica and Antofagasta cities to Chile, which belonged to Peru and Bolivia.

Peru today in enjoying peace. It is one of the most secure countries of South America and now sees the future with optimism.
