CLIMATE:
Peru can be divided roughly into three different climate zones: the Coastal region, the Andes or Highlands and the Amazon.
Coastal Zone : Summer is from December through March, a nice period for visiting the beaches. From April to September, days are very sunny and wet. Some days parts of the coast are all covered with mist.
Andean Zone : The dry season starts in April and goes through November. Wet season is from December through March and is characterized by frequent rainfall which last typically for one hour or a few hours, mostly rainfall are in January and February.
Amazon zone: The dry season is from June to October and the rainfall does occur generally short and intense. The rainy season is from November through March.
Clothing.
It depends the travel zone. Take summer clothes for the warmer, months and a thin sweater or coat for fresh evenings.
During the stay in the highlands, you should bring warm clothes and also medicines against altitude sickness.
For the amazon region, thin summer clothes, raincoats and tight shoes are appropriated during the whole year.
Souvenirs
Peru is famous for its ceramic products. Crafts, as well as textiles such as scarves, ponchos, belts, bags and tapestry are characterized by the typical regional patterns. Furthermore, silver jewelry is cheap. Best places to go shopping are the traditional Andean markets.

GASTRONOMY:
Practically restaurants offer typical food and creole dishes and international cuisine, which are available for all visitors. The three key ingredients of creole cuisine are aji (a native chili pepper), ajo (garlic), and lemon. For example the marine food is very rich, is typical the ceviche, raw fish with lemon juice and onions, others Peruvians speciality are The Anticuchos, (meat skewers with heart of beef), Rocoto Relleno (stuffed tasty peppers), and more traditional dishes, include filet of alpaca, spicy guinea pig, the Pachamanca and La Ocopa (cooked potatoes with a cheese sauce). Some restaurants are into colonial houses and have Inka walls as part of the decor.
